Into the woods

Went birding in the woods for the first time. Identified acorn woodpecker and california quail. Probable identification of california towhee, black-capped chickadee, and bushtit. Kim calls the california towhee "little rusty butt".

Birding in the woods is significantly more challenging than around marshes. Birds chirp from every directions, but you can't see them through the branches. They're either toying with me, or I'm starting to hear things...
